Abstract

Profile

Artist/Band Profile: 'The Park', the song I have uploaded on here, is part of a small cd I am working on - 'Beneath The Enigma'. I think it is generally representative of what I've done so far for the cd: constant shifts within small periods of time; music evoking the sense of what the poetry/lyrics are conveying; bizzare use of percussion; simple melodies and chords sketched out on guitar; and a present feeling of otherworldyness. This track doesn't feature any improvisation or harsh noise/feedback, both of which are very predominant on other tracks I've worked on for this small album. Lately tho, the sound hasn't been working on my computer (something wrong with my sound card, which I'm getting fixed soon!), so I've focused more on a guitar quartet and a novel... hehe. I really like creating stuff - it gives me something to do.

Most recently, I've spent most of my time on 'Guitar quartet'. It is in its writing stages at the moment rather than recording. It is quite abrasive, atonal and dissonant, although it has fairly melodic moments; it generally follows its own logic rather than following a predetermined theory, such as serialism. I felt the need of writing this after listening to a large amount of modern classical music - bartok, kagel, webern, cage, ligeti, etc.
