This is a story about a girl who finds herself on the wrong end of a heroin habit. The speaker in the song is a friend reaching out to try to help the addict. This is the first in the three (so far) song story following this character through the depths of her addiction ...

I'd like to take a moment to welcome all newcomers to the world of The Mercenary Saints! Though we are fairly new here and things are still a little bare bones, feel free to take a look around. We've got a few live shots up and much more to come as we fully organize. There are a couple of songs up here from our 2006 full length debut, "The Cubby Sessions LP" and the tenth track from that record, "When Does This End" is available for free download! Download it, share it, give it to anyone you think might like it! As we always say, without major label $$$ behind us, we rely on word of mouth for promotion: That's you guys! So, if you like us, please, tell your friends!

If you don't know us, there are a bunch of different ways to spend time with us on the web. Firstly and foremostly if you have any questions, comments, thoughts or just want to drop a line you can do so at mercenarysaints@yahoo.ca. We love hearing from you guys and I'm always happy to do my best to get back to you as soon as I can. Reviews: From Lucid Forge:

The Cubby Sessions appears to be the first release from The Mercenary Saints. In fact, I’d be totally shocked if it weren’t, because I can't imagine a band like the Mercenary Saints lying around in the scene for very long before being marauded by a good record label. Guitars are very versatile, going all over the place from hard to soft and whatever’s in-between, enough to cure even the worst cases of ADHD—lots of short little solos to go around, too. Bass and percussion are kept nice and steady throughout. The only complaint about the music itself is that the vocals are a little inconsistent and often too harsh for the accompanying music. I suppose that could be pure opinion, though.

However, it’s undeniable that The Mercenary Saints sound like a fight between AFI and The Foo Fighters. The talent is definitely there, and I know this is not the last we will hear from the band. The Cubby Sessions is melodic, poppy, heavy (oh my), and very suitable for radio, although it’s a lot better than what usually gets broadcasted.

The Mercenary Saints is sure to go places in the Canadian scene. Modest, down-to-earth writing, quick pace, good album length, and pristine production quality. The Cubby Sessions is a rock album comparable to bigger, more popular releases such as the Foo Fighters' Colour and the Shape. Keep an eye on The Mercenary Saints!

Influences: Maiden, 'Tallica, Pennywise, Deftones, Foo Fighters, Finch, The Beatles, Weezer
