I'm pleased to announce that my debut album Electronic Somewhere is now available to buy from CD Baby for $12.99. It should be avaliable on iTunes and other DD services within a few months. The album has been in the works for about a 18 months, although one track dates back to mid 2000!

I already have one review:

Every once in a while an artist taps into a nerve center awakening long forgotten memories of joy, peace and wonder. Welcome to Planet Bliss!

The debut album from Planet Bliss, Electronic Somewhere captures the very essence of tranquility in an "other-worldly" sense. Rich with atmospheric and minimalistic layers, each track takes you further on a every expanding journey.

Jonathan Heslop (Planet Bliss) is no stranger to the music scene. He has been producing Electronic music since the mid 90s having been influenced by up-tempo artists like Orbital, The Chemical Brothers and down-tempo/Ambient artist like Edge of Motion, Brian Eno, Fila Brazillia. Want to start the year with no stress? This debut album definetly one to check out! Be sure to check out the Planet Bliss website for more info. and how to pick up this awesome album.

Planet Bliss Title: Planet Bliss CD design
Date: Monday, Dec 05, 2005 7:43:24 PM
Blog Post By: Planet Bliss

The CD and cover design for the debut Planet Bliss album is back from cafepress.com and it's looking good. There are still a few issues with it, the text did not align on one of the two spines and I think the CD design still needs some work. Sorry about the crappy pictures:

I'm not very impressed with Cafepress. The print quality of CD and inserts is very good, but once I stuck the CD in a player I found it had only one song on it, there should have been 12! In defense of Cafepress, once I notified them of the problem they sent another copy (Which worked this time). Still, not reassuring is it.

The SceneI received an email from Jun Group Entertainment about a week ago asking if they could use my music in their free to download TV program.

What is "The Scene"?

"...The Scene is the piracy underground where 99% of pirated movies, songs, video games, etc start out. There, thousands of pirates upload, download, and trade files (often illegally) using FTP sites. From there, the files make their way onto the peer-to-peer networks, that so many know and love..."

Episode 14 of The Scene features five tracks by Planet Bliss. The Scene is the story of Brian Sandro, a NYU student who is also one of the world's leading Internet movie pirates.

Planet Bliss Title: My Doepfer A-100 Arrived

Listening To: BOC - In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country

I have been playing with it since Saturday, The first Analog synth I have ever heard in the flesh. I'm suprised at how easy it is to use, I have come up with a few sounds I quite like. I did spend the first hour scratching my head as to why there was no sound coming out of the machine. It turns out two of the patch cables supplied don't work. The one module that I can't get my head around is the A-190 Midi - CV module. I'm currently trying to figure out how to change the retrigger type for the ADSR's. You have to do it via midi program change, but it's not playing ball.

The first sounds I came up with:

A-100 Test1 - There is no sequencing on this sound. The rhythmical clicks are coming from the audio divider module. Careful with your levels towards the end!
A-100 Test2 - Lots of subtle pitch modulation.
A-100 Test3 - The best one I have come up with so far. I think I was using hard sync with this one. More subtle modulation from the random volt/noise module.
A-100 Test4 - The sub sound is the multimode filters res being triggered by an LFO. Careful with your levels ! ! !
A-100 Test5 - It's the random volt's again.
A-100 Test6 - This is my first attempt at using a different Env for each Osc. It's very handy being able to use all the outputs from any module. You can run the normal output of an ADSR to an amp for the Osc and use the inverse output for the filter.

One of the first things I descovered; I need more patch cables. I ran out on test 1 and 5  plus the random volt/noise module is my favorite toy atm.

There are loads of modulation options. It could do with a third Osc though. The led's on the LFO's are cool! They don't just blink on and off, they fade!
