Michael Chocholak Title: lavalamps

I just uploaded four tracks from the 'lavalamp' series. while these tracks are certainly listenable on their own, they are not complete compositions. they are meant to be downloaded and played in any number and combination, continuously and simultaneously (looped). since they have differing durations they will interact differently over time. the effect is a subtlely and constantly changing and evolving ambience.

the other sonicblog 4 to actually match the mp3 which is here. this was done saturday evening about 7:47pm on 7/28/07 at the irrigation headgate off of mill creek. it's the sound of the paddlewheel that turns the fish screen. if I'd recorded this a month ago when there was more water, the rhythm would have been much more pronounced. kluge, kluge, kluge... but the water is down now that we're looking into hell month so what you get is more ambient. maybe I'll try again in september when the rain comes back. in the meantime...

just uploaded a track called sferic beach - real time improv using lightening strikes as they sound coming over nasa's live vlf feed from huntsville, alabama as my sound source. jammin' outer space. very cool to think about what I was doing while I was doing it. 9:20 pm on 7/3/07.

huntsville might be getting some thunderstorms starting on friday according to noaa. might make the feed a lot more lively ;)

Michael Chocholak Title: Red Spider White Web

I've remastered and uploaded my full soundtrack to Misha's cyberpunk novel Red Spider White Web. This is circa 1990. We both had our studios crammed into a single room and the music and writing influenced each other back and forth. The original masters were on cassette so unfortunately there were limits on the fidelity (so I'd avoid the lofi streams if possible). If postmodern slipstream cyberpunk scifi is your thing, you can check out more on the novel here (http://www.mishanogha.com/morsels.htm) or go direct & get it from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1877655295/qid%3D1039163839/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/002-3755393-6904011).
