(from my original Blog posting) Ok maybe I am bored, but I was looking at main Tag Cloud page here of which I am a big fan of Tag Clouds in concept and certainly of implementation here at Artist Server, but... what is wrong with this picture?:
Ummm... California[807] Texas[428] !? Now I know there are a lot of Artists in California including our host/founder/creator of ArtistServer and a lot of the more senior Artists here, but I know there is a lot of music here in Texas. This is especially alarming concidering I account for over half the [428] number in Texas. Now, last I checked the population of California is the largest in the US(roughly 36.5 million) with Texas 2nd(23.5mil) while CA is larger, it is by no means nearly double the size of Texas population wise( we already know Texas has them on area but look at Alaska[5] and you can see that is a moot point)
So to make this Tag Cloud a little more realistic one or both of two things have to happen:
1) Texas Artist need to add more songs to ArtistServer
2) Texas Artist need to _recruit_ more Texas artists to come to ArtistServer
Now if you are still reading at this point you are most likely a proud Texan (or maybe Californian who is trying to see what this Texas guy is babbling about) and I _know_ I can appeal to your Pride in The Great State of Texas (you non-Texans still reading at this point, that is pretty much how we have to refer to it--state law, assuming your native) to fix this most heinous imbalance.
to aid in this effort I will start an "Revenge of the Killer Texas Tag Cloud" campaign (hey even if I could put out more songs, Gideon has me capped at 300 songs--he _is_ in California after all ) . I will be creating campaign banners for all my Fellow Texans here at ArtistServer and will set up a campagn website so we (us prideful and loyal Texans) can see how this effort is progressing.
Now keep in mind the Californians (yeah I know your still reading) will be doing their best to counter our efforts( oh they say they are all mellow and all, but they have a lot of Pride too--I know, I am married to one of them...)
but we must and _will _prevail... so Texans:
Post songs, recruit Texas artists, right this wrong...
