Music Style: The first striking aspect of Drum n Bass music I ever noticed was it's complex rhythmic nature; frantic, syncopated breakbeats alongside slick percussive grooves and phat, stomping bass-lines. It is THE musical genre that pushes sound beyond limits and constraints. Whether it be compressing and overdriving a snare drum to its clipping threshold or programming a bass tone so unique, gut-wrenching, and powerful, that the sensations aroused defy any emotional description. A Drum n Bass track, from the producers point of view, is the ultimate expression of his or her mind set conveyed through technology.

Fortunately, Drum n Bass is much more than what the name suggests. The adaptability and universality of the genre never ceases to encapsulate the fascination it holds within me. The music has become so diverse and eclectic that one sees almost any aspect of a seemingly unrelated musical genre incorporated into a dnb tune.

Influences: It is this fusion of styles/genres that I try to apply to my music. It is clearly of a progressive nature; often merging from funky and uplifting to something deeper, harder and darker. Consequently the break-down sections mark critical points in the tracks, where vibes become transient and emotions become conflicting.

My Production alias, 'Subtone' is an amalgamation of the words 'subliminal' and 'undertone'. Two terms which I believe accurately describe my style of Drum n Bass music.
