The Stolen Sweets' repertoire is inspired by the unconventional arrangements of virtuosic vocalists and instrumentalists the Boswell Sisters (Martha, Connee and Vet), one of the most popular vocal groups of the 1930s.
Unlike sister acts that came before and after them, these girls were gritty and progressive: they were classically trained instrumentalists who devised all their own arrangements (thanks to Martha?s piano savvy) and sang lyrics intended solely for men:
