Review: First off, let me say that our Austin, TX friend Wintermute has a long standing reputation for making quality electronic music, in various forms, that never cease to amaze me. And I am a fan. What lead me to this 11/08/2002 track was the fact that it has the same song title as one of my own tracks. I simply had to hear what Wintermute's version sounded like. I was not disappointed. But.... this is, of course, where the comparison stops. These two tunes... my own and Wintermute's... despite them being in the same genre, and being titled the same, dealing with a similar topic... are as different as night and day. Starting out with a "ping" not unlike the opening to Pink Floyd's "Echoes" the song slowly increases in intensity to the point where we're left with an uplifting feeling of glorious spaciousness. The type you might experience while on the moon watching the Earth appear over the horizon while you wind down from an all-nighter. The type of all-nighter where you find a nice spot to sit and watch the sun come up. From here we're lead into the twinkling of rhythms and subtle sequences that let the listener float away on a beautiful bed of arpeggiated sound. There is another version available on Wintermute's page... a more progressive version.. but I'll leave that up to other's to discover. I prefer the more Ambient version I have talked about here. All-in-all this tune is rich, sonic, subtle and sublime. A perfect example of ambience.... Texas style... Cheers!! THX1138 aka... (((stereofect)))
